1. Our Approach to Modern Slavery

SCANDIC COIN is committed to respecting human rights and fair working conditions throughout the entire value chain. Our guiding principles — integrity, transparency, and responsibility — require that we proactively prevent forced labor, debt bondage, human trafficking, and other forms of modern slavery. We integrate the requirements of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, and other national and international legal provisions into our business processes. We expect our employees, suppliers, and partners to adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward modern slavery.

2. Supply Chain and Risk Management

Our supply chain includes the procurement of IT hardware (servers, network technology, storage), energy supply (renewable electricity, diesel generators for emergencies), facility services (security, cleaning, catering), software and maintenance services, as well as transport. We regularly identify and assess risks of modern slavery, especially in countries and sectors with higher risk profiles. Our measures include:

  • Supplier Code of Conduct: All suppliers must accept binding human rights and labor standards, including prohibitions on child and forced labor, payment of fair wages, assurance of occupational safety, and environmental protection.
  • Contractual obligations: Contracts include clauses requiring compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and the German Supply Chain Law, as well as audit rights. For suppliers in high-risk areas, we request additional evidence and certifications (e.g., SA8000, ISO 45001).
  • Audits and inspections: We conduct risk-based audits or require independent certification. In the case of non-compliance, we agree on corrective actions and deadlines. Repeated violations lead to supplier exclusion.
  • Risk analyses: New and existing suppliers are evaluated regarding country- and industry-specific risks. We use publicly available indices (e.g., Global Slavery Index) and internal assessment matrices. When risks are identified, preventive and corrective measures are defined.

3. Expectations for Business Partners

We collaborate only with partners who share our values. Our business partners must ensure that no form of modern slavery occurs within their supply chains and that they impose the same obligations on their own suppliers. We expect transparency regarding the origin of components and materials, working conditions, and environmental practices. Violations of these requirements result in corrective measures; in the event of serious or repeated violations, the cooperation will be terminated.

4. Training and Awareness

Employees, particularly those in procurement, operations, facility management, and human resources, receive training to identify risk factors for modern slavery. Awareness programs explain reporting channels, possible warning signs (e.g., excessive working hours, restricted movement, chained labor contracts), and the applicable legal frameworks. Managers are trained on how to conduct reviews and audits and how to guide suppliers toward improvements.

5. Whistleblowing and Remediation Processes

SCANDIC COIN provides a confidential whistleblower channel. Employees, suppliers, and external parties can report human rights violations anonymously or by name. Each report is investigated, documented, and — where necessary — remediated in cooperation with the relevant partners. Whistleblowers are protected against retaliation. The results of investigations are included in our reports and contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes.

6. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

We review our strategies on a regular basis. Insights from audits, supplier assessments, whistleblower reports, and industry initiatives are used to improve our processes. Progress and challenges in combating modern slavery are documented in our annual ESG report. SCANDIC COIN maintains dialogue with industry initiatives and NGOs to adopt best practices and continuously strengthen our commitment.
